My baby is 6 weeks old!
Darius will be 6 weeks old tomorrow! I can't believe how much time has already passed. I had a birth through work this past week and Darius already looked so big compared to the new baby! He had a Dr check up on friday and he now weighs 9 lbs 5 oz and is 21 3/4 inches long. He is in the 50 percentile for weight & height. He is growing up already!(sniff sniff) Here are few things he is already doing:
sleeping 5-8 hours at night (since 2 weeks!)
lifting his head
starting to focus on objects and faces
recognizing my voice
starting to coo and smile in response to other people (he has been randomly smiling in his sleep since birth)
solving quadratic equations (oh wait, that's my sister's 11 year old)
preparing for his future career as a male model

Our busy weekend
We have had a very busy weekend. On Thursday Greg's parents came into town. We tried to do as much as we could while they were here so they could be a part of the festivities.
On Saturday we had Darius' and my nephew Jake's Shawnee naming ceremony. An elder from the Absentee Shawnee tribe, Troy Littleaxe, named both boys. Jake was given a rabbit name, Pea-ay'-wa See-La-Meth'e, which means "came a jumping." Kerri (his mom) and his brother Andrew also have rabbit names. Darius was given a turtle name, Pem Ho-Kwa Com-See, which means "turtle swimming by." I was of course thrilled to have Darius given a turtle name like me. My name is Nippi-Ta Pum-Ma which means "turtle floating in clear water." I had already bought him alot of turtle things not really even thinking about wanting him to be a turtle as well. I even bought him his turtle Halloween costume in St Augustine. Troy was not even aware that Kerri is a rabbit and I am a turtle. He definately has a gift for naming babies. It was so nice & touching to have the boys named together with Kerri & I sitting side by side. I feel even closer to my sister (if that's possible) than ever before because she & James and Greg & I share the amazing & loving experience of adoption.
Saturday afternoon Greg & I had our homestudy visit. It was painless and easy. Mostly us talking about ourselves and our family. It felt good knowing that we are that much closer to having the adoption final. Next we have to wait for the waiting period and we should be able to finalize in Oct or Nov.
This morning we had our parent-child dedication at church. After years of watching other parents have the opportunity to dedicate their lives to raising their children for Christ it was finally our turn! It's amazing to think that just a few months ago at our church's last dedication I almost had to leave the service because I was upset about not being pregnant yet. Now I'm a mom and have the most beautiful, sweet baby. I am so lucky and thank God every day for this gift He has given us.
Tomorrow morning Greg's parents fly home. Greg, Darius & I will miss them very much and hope we get to visit them very soon.
I will post some pictures later of this weekend's events.

Ok, I did something a little crazy (as you can probably see) I really wanted to add Darius to my "artwork" No matter what happens with the adoption he will always be my first child and I wanted a way to make that permanent. Although we have no reason to believe anything will interfere with the adoption, there's always that fear something will go wrong. So Darius baby, this is all for you no matter how stupid, crazy, or wild it may be. I love you more than I could ever imagine possible. You are my baby boy and my reason for getting up everyday (& at 2 in the morning) You will always be a part of me & when you turn 18 and you want your first tattoo, mommy will even drive you (as long as it says "Mom") I love you Darius!!
The 2 thrill seekers!

Yesterday I went parasailing with one of the other wives, Amber. It was great!! It was nothing what I expected but such a thrill! They had 3 levels: 700 ft, 1000 ft and 1400 ft. We decided to go for it and do the 1400 ft. Plus we got a free t-shirt for doing the highest. I'll do anything for a free t-shirt. Greg & John got to ride on the boat with us. That was the closest Greg will ever get to parasailing. The last picture is Greg & I with John & Amber. The 2 in the middle were a couple from LSU.
Florida Vacation
The day after Grandmother Anderson's party, Greg, Darius & I drove down to St Augustine, Fl with Greg's parents. We are vacationing with the Causby family. James Causby was Greg's dad's college roomate. James and his wife June are here with 2 of their sons and their wives and children: Corey and Crystal and their 3 yr old girl Laurel and John and Amber and their 2 yr old son Peyton. We have had a blast this past week. They are such a fun family and their kids are adorable. It's quite a crew going out to dinner all together. Darius has had plenty of women ooing and aahing over him this week plus his Nana Carol to spoil him. We are leaving to come home tomorrow. We had a great time but I know everyone back home misses us (at least Darius, Greg & I don't count for much these days.) I'll be adding some pictures over the next few days of our vacation.

It was so nice to have all of the Anderson Family together. We had a great time and hope we made Grandmother Anderson's birthday a very happy one.

We went to North Carolina last weekend to celebrate Greg's Grandmother's 85th birthday. Greg's brother & sister in-law, Ben & Angela, were able to come along with their 7 month old son, Caden. This was the first time for Greg's family to meet Darius. The last picture is me teaching Caden how to do "Go Pokes"

Go Cocks!
Greg bought this for Darius the day after we brought him home. I think he may have to grow a bit to fill it out. The clothing war between OSU & USC has begun. I'm pretty sure OSU will win considering mommy is the one who dresses him.
